I am currently a teacher of many different dance styles. I teach dance in schools across Leicestershire as part of PPA/PE and for after school clubs. I also teach in a dance school. Here, I teach Ballet, Tap, Modern, (ISTD and free) Hip Hop, Street, Singing and Drama up to a high level and standard of which is incredibly rewarding. As well as teaching, I choreograph work used in shows and competitions.
I started dance at a very young age and have enjoyed it ever since that first knee bend at the age of two. I did stop dancing for a short while to become a gymnast aged five. However, after recieving a gold medal in a local competition decided I had reached my full potential and dabbled a bit in Disco Dance.
Over the years, Disco Dance evolved into RAD Ballet and it wasnt long before I was dancing over ten hours a week in every genre the school had to offer. Including; ISTD Tap, Ballet, Modern, Contemporary and Jazz, Singing, Drama and participating in competitions all over the country.
It was time to make a decision and to me it was already made. Aged seventeen, I was granted a scholarship for Studio's Le Pointe (SLP) in Leeds, and there was no stopping me. I gained my Higher National Diploma in Professional Musical Theatre in 2006 and loved every minute.
From that point, I decided to further my studies while auditioning and performing locally in shows. Subsequently, was awarded three cetificates in Dance Education, ISTD Tap, Ballet and Modern, YMCA Gym Instructors, ETM (Exercise To Music) and Fitness Instructors. I had found a new passion in teaching. I relished the thought of nourishing something so profound in an individual, an art that could be more than a career. I could be part of furthering someone else's future, filling it with something so beautiful, so all encompassing, whether a pubil decided to dance professionally or not.
After this I was offered a years contract in Budapest and jumped at the chance to see a bit more of the world. Since being back I have been offered many jobs in the performing world but have been trying to find something a little more local and closer to home.
I feel that this degree will provide me with the means and infrastructure to further my professional career. Thus hoping to meet new people in the artistic world that share my passion.
